MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With the change of the seasons, comes a busy day at McKinley Marina in downtown Milwaukee.
Using a 20-ton crane, members of the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center were hoisting dozens of large boats out of Lake Michigan for the winter.
The big boats were slipped into waiting cradles and will be stored at the boatyard at the sailing center.
The Big Boat Day in the fall is always a bittersweet day for members.
"It means the snow is about to fly. Unless you're a snowmobiler or skiier, I think you kinda dread this day, 'cause it means we're wrapping up for the season and we got about six months to wait until they go back in," said Holly Church, Director of the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center.
While the sailing season is done for now, the Sailing Center does have courses during the winter if you're interested in learning how to sail.
