Royals employee temporarily caring for Pat Murphy's 'pocket tortoise'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Move over pocket pancakes, it's now time for pocket pets.

Last week at an away game against the Kansas City Royals, Brewers Coach Pat Murphy ditched the pocket pancakes for a pocket tortoise in an interview with Apple TV's Tricia Whitaker.

Whitaker left the tortoise with the team, and that means Barrett Paulson, the Royals' clubhouse attendant who bought the tortoise for Murphy, has a new friend at home -- for now, anyway.

"My family's going to take it in, take care of it for a while until we can find a good home for it," Paulson said. "Just because it is a literal dinosaur and it'll live forever, so it needs to go to a good place."

The tortoise's name is Bobby Witt Jr., named after the Royals' shortstop.

Barrett's mom, Lori, says the Milwaukee County Zoo would be a good home for Bobby Jr. as a way to keep him close to the team that made him a star.
