MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local nonprofit took a major hit this weekend following major flooding. Roxz's Resources & Awareness provides free pet food, toys, and other essentials to help support owners in need.
Floodwater engulfed the owner's basement which was being used as a storage place for donations.
On Monday, Aug. 11, Roxz's founder -- Ricky Van Lear -- described her effort in protecting valuables from the storm.
"Picking up dog toys, blankets, whatever we could that wasn't sealed with a cover to high ground," said Lear. "Middle of the night came down here up four steps and I knew at that point in time here at Roxz's was gone. Everything we knew was flat out sitting in sewer water."
