MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Rhythm and Soles 5K Walk / Run has been announced by Healing Starts Today with the aim being to help victims of human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault.
The event takes place Friday, Aug. 18 at Veterans Park in Milwaukee, and Healing Starts Today founder Rosalind McClain joined us on Thursday, Aug. 17 to preview the event.
Participants, including virtual and incarcerated individuals, will be able to join the fundraiser, which supports free groups aiding trauma victims. Adult entry requires a $30 fee, while children can enjoy a free kite-flying corner without participating in the 5K.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the Walk / Run begins at 11 a.m. Virtual participants may complete the 5K from Aug. 17 to Aug. 20.
Organizers describe the event as a victory lap for those who have overcome obstacles in life, while encouraging the community to continue work toward their goals.
