MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- People met with local leaders on Milwaukee's south side Tuesday night, to talk about traffic calming measures around 43rd St. and Jackson Park.
It comes amid a utility project that started in August along 43rd St. from Lincoln down to Howard.
Now, officials are asking for public input to determine how the roads will look when construction is over, with bike lanes, bump-outs and fewer lanes all up for discussion.
Alderman Peter Burgelis says there are mixed ideas on what the road should look like.
"Some people want to get home faster and they don't care about pedestrian safety," Ald. Burgelis said. "They want to get home 90 seconds sooner. That was some of the feedback we got at the last meeting a couple of years ago. In the meantime, we'll see where the public is today."
The project on S. 43rd St. is expected to be finished in 2027.
