Report: Man, 70, suspected in murder of romantic rival, 70

WAREHAM, Mass. (CBS NEWS) -- A 70-year-old Massachusetts man has pleaded not guilty to charges he killed another 70-year-old man.

John Witty, of Berkley, was arraigned in Wareham District Court Friday on a murder charge in connection with the death of John Williams in his Wareham home, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors allege Witty may have killed Williams over an apparent love triangle, reports the Boston Globe.

Citing court documents, the papers reports Williams was previously romantically involved with a woman named Judy Harris, who is now deceased, while Harris was living with Witty.

Witty, who was arrested Friday morning, was held without bail. It's not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.

Williams was found in his home Tuesday by police performing a well-being check.

Williams had been stabbed once and shot ten times.

Neighbors described Williams as a friendly man who was an amateur pilot, ham radio operator, and motorcycle enthusiast. He also worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Wareham.
