Red Cross to assist residents displaced by fire in Oak Creek Sunday

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The American Red Cross of Wisconsin announced that volunteers are assisting five people following a fire at a residential building near Drexel and Wildwood in Oak Creek on Sunday, Nov. 28.

Officials say that two adults and one child from one unit and two adults in another unit needed emergency lodging and assistance following a fire at their residential complex Sunday morning in Oak Creek.

The Red Cross added that they will remain in contact with residents from six other residential units on their potential needs in the days ahead.

"From Nov. 1 through Sunday morning, American Red Cross volunteers have helped 310 people displaced by 70 fires in the western U.P. and throughout Wisconsin" the American Red Cross of Wisconsin announced in a statement. "This number of people and fires tracks with our typical increase in fires that come with the onset of cold weather in our state as well as the busier holiday season. This help is possible because of our volunteers and your support."
