What would you do with $950-Million?
That was the question buzzing the streets of Milwaukee Saturday afternoon, as thousands flocked to purchase Powerball tickets before a Saturday night drawing.
The $950M jackpot is the highest lottery figure ever recorded in the United States.
Lottery officials say roughly $11-million worth of lottery tickets were purchased in Wisconsin in the last week. The jackpot jumped from $700M to $950M in less than 48 hours.
If someone hits the jackpot, officials say the lump sum payout would be roughly $558M. If nobody wins Saturday night, the jackpot could grow as high as $1.3Billion before the next drawing.
"It's crazy," says Milwaukee resident Julie Feldman. "Every store I've gone to everybody's all about Powerball, they're walking out with tickets in their hands."
She purchased some for herself, and some for family members, hoping to hit big in the 10:00 PM drawing.
"I'm hoping I'm the lucky one, because I'd love to retire and just travel." she says.
