Recap of Milwaukee Rain Days
Update as of 8am Thursday...
A cool front brought us some more rain overnight. Some spots received more than an inch, especially south of I-94. Across the metro, we had about a third of an inch. We take a break from the rain for a few days before another system impacts the area throughout the day on Saturday, starting during the pre-dawn hours. We'll see rounds of rain and storms, perhaps adding up to at least a half an inch to an inch (if not more.)
Some of you battled a solid batch of rain on the roads this morning, while others may have slept through it! It was a decent rainfall event for the city of Milwaukee, relatively speaking. This morning we picked up .21" of much needed rain.
It was one of twenty-six rain days this summer. Meteorological Summer runs June through August, and to date we've picked up 6.34".
Here's the monthly breakdown.
MONTH | RAIN DAYS | TOTAL |
JUNE | 11 | 3.49" |
JULY | 8 | 1.76" |
AUGUST | 7 | 1.09" |
While that might sound like a sufficient amount, we are still down about two inches this month and the deficits run back to Spring. Take a look:
Even though about a third of our summer days have recorded a trace of rain or more, the amounts for each event in Milwaukee have been a little meager.
We had just one event bring us over an inch of rainfall, that came on June 15th, where we picked up 1.03" of rain. We had four other events bring us over a half inch.
We are still tracking some rain tonight, but it won't help out the deficit a whole lot. Beyond that, Saturday now looks to have some potential to be a soaker. Be sure to download the CBS58 Weather App to help you plan your weekend around that next batch of rain!
