Rain is here and stays heavy and steady most of Tuesday

CBS 58

Our long advertised steady rain has arrived. Rain has been rolling in from the south Tuesday morning. Most of the morning hours the rain won't be super heavy but shortly after it starts it will become steady.

Here's a radar image that will update with time:

The heaviest rain is expected during the afternoon hours when a quick half to full inch of rain could fall. By Tuesday evening the steady rain should wrap up but scattered showers are still expected which could still be heavy at times through Tuesday night and most of Wednesday.

Rain totals are still expected to be significant and if anything have increased a bit the last 24 hours. On the low end most of southeast Wisconsin should expect a full inch of rain. On the high end some areas could get close to 2" or 2.50" of rain. Since the heavy rain falls over the course of 48 hours we aren't expecting widespread flooding issues but rivers will likely rise and some street flooding is possible if storm drains get clogged or overwhelmed.

In addition to the rain, it's also going to be a windy day Tuesday with gusts to 40 mph. It will not be pleasant to be outside with all of the rain and wind and cool temps in the 40s. The breeze will stay with us most of Wednesday and Thursday.
