WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) – A group of neighbors in Wauwatosa received racist letters after displaying yard signs in front of their homes.
Police were called to the neighborhood on August 26 after the residents received the disturbing letter.
The sign says, ‘For Sale Unless Politicians Keep Tosa Safe (Paid for by Tosa Taxpayers fed up with Mayor and City Council)’. One neighbor who put it outside said he got the letter around a week later.
"Very shocked because there’s nothing racial intended about the signs," Grant Lubin said.
This disturbing racist letter was sent to Wauwatosa residents who put out the yard sign below in front of their homes. I talked with one neighbor who says the signs have nothing racial intended. More at noon on @CBS58pic.twitter.com/rd4fWpZXwi

The letter, addressed to ‘White Wauwatosa Resident’ said in part, “We Whites must stand together, we must keep Wauwatosa free from Blacks and their lack of morels”.
It goes on to talk about needing to keep the city ‘white’ and ‘safe’.
"Whoever wrote the letter was trying to imply that we who had these signs up were racist, facetiously," Lubin said.
The letter is signed by someone named Toby with ‘Whites for Wauwatosa’. Lubin said he and his neighbors do not know who that is.
Wauwatosa Police put together an incident report in regard to the letter.
