Sub Zero Morning Followed By a Big Warm UP
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The city of Racine has launched a parking ticket late fee forgiveness program.
Now through Dec. 31, you can purchase food at Malicki's Piggly Wiggly in Racine and donate it to the Racine County Food Bank as part of "Food for Forgiveness."
The dollar amount of the donated food can then be applied to parking ticket late fees.
Police, the mayor and volunteers all see it as a win-win.
"The idea of helping out with food scarcity and hunger and at the same time giving people a break on their late fees on some of their tickets seemed like a great combination," said Racine Mayor Cory Mason.
There are two ways to support this hunger relief effort. You can buy any number of $5 prepackaged food donation bags from Piggly Wiggly and show your receipt at the public service counter of the Racine Police Department, or you can make a direct cash donation.
