RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person is dead after an apparent shooting and crash in Racine.
Police say around 3:30 a.m. Monday they got a call for shots fired. They found a scene near Albert and Blake Avenue.
Neighbors in the area were woken up to multiple gun shots.
“I heard about 6 to 8 gun shots and I got on the floor," said a neighbor.
A short time later, police were called out after a car hit an electrical pole near Spring and Freres. Police say the driver of that car, a 31-year-old Racine man, had been shot and died from his injuries.
One neighbor heard the crash and ran outside.
“I woke up to a loud boom. I saw a flash of light and I noticed all my power went out. I jumped up real fast and ran outside. I saw the pole was down and there were wires all over the street," said Jennifer Wasinack, neighbor.
They're working to determine if the two scenes are connected and who was involved.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Racine Police at 262-635-7756 or Crime Stoppers at 262-636-9330 or text 274637 (CRIMES). Text messages should begin with RACS.
