Racine & Me November 19, 2017: Burlington Volleyball Champs, Turkey Trot, Yogi’s Pud’n, and Arms Up For Arlo!
Jacob Kittilstad welcomed the organizers of Arms Up For Arlo! to talk about their upcoming fundraiser. The money will support the family of Arlo Kristopeit – a 3-year-old first diagnosed with stage 4 hepatoblastoma just after his first birthday. Hepatoblastoma is a rare and aggressive liver cancer and in May of 2016 Arlo received a liver transplant at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Unfortunately doctors discovered this year that Arlo's cancer has relapsed and he has cancer in one of his lungs. Money collected for the family will directly go to pay for medical expenses as well as travel costs. Click here for details
Next, the Burlington High School Girls Volleyball Team stopped by to talk about their experience winning the Division 1 State Title. The teammates say they focused on improving their serving and blocking all season. The Demons also had a wild energy headed into the state championships. There’s also a certain level of wistfulness for the seniors who will be graduating this year.
Burlington is also starting its own Turkey Trot this year. The first annual event is being supported by Thrivent Financial- Shoreline Group and is scheduled for the morning of Thanksgiving. Organizers say it will be a nice energetic appetizer before the big meals people will have later in the day. Click here for details
And there’s a new food truck in town! Yogi’s Mobile Puddin’ Bowltique specializes in dozens of varieties of pudding. And the food truck also offers a different experience because of its high-end style and interior. Its chef and designer told Jacob about what inspired her to go through with the plan.
