Home Fire Safety

The Racine Fire Department is teaming up with the American Red Cross for a first of its kind event in the city. Teams will go door-to-door on Saturday, August 17th installing free smoke alarms and educating families about fire safety and the importance of having an escape plan.

Reps from the Red Cross and the fire department talk about the importance of the day and how you can sign up for a free smoke alarm. We also find out how much time you have on average to get out of a house fire, how many fires were in Racine last year, and how the Red Cross helps after the flames.
