Racine & Me: From Malted Milk to Makerspace: Maltworks Revives a Racine Icon
RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- A historic Racine landmark is experiencing a modern revival — and it’s more vibrant than ever.
MALTWORKS, located in the former Horlick Malted Milk factory — now known as Belle City Square — has transformed from a cornerstone of industrial history into a buzzing community space for small businesses, creatives, and entrepreneurs.
What was once a factory known for its sweet exports is now home to a dynamic mix of tenants: creative studios, health and beauty professionals, retail shops, coworking space, and commercial offices. The building’s historic charm meets contemporary comfort, offering a welcoming environment for collaboration and innovation.
“We’re not just leasing space,” organizers say. “We’re building a community.”
MALTWORKS is currently welcoming new tenants to join the growing energy in this redeveloped part of Racine.
And it’s not just about work — the community hosts events that bring people together. Two standout seasonal celebrations are on the calendar:
Maltworks Monster Mash — Saturday, October 11
A family-friendly Halloween event with shopping, spooky drinks, and fun for all ages.
Maltworks Mingle & Jingle — Saturday, December 13
A festive holiday experience with music, local vendors, and plenty of cheer.
Whether you're an entrepreneur looking for space to grow or a neighbor looking for a good time, MALTWORKS is helping write Racine’s next chapter — one creative idea at a time.
