Racine man to give $25,000 to one lucky first responder

Brett Kaydo says first responders don't get enough credit for all they do and that's why hes running a contest to give one of them $25,000.

"I think it's important we show our appreciation for them. There's some  2.2 million first responders for the nearly 300 million people they serve and we take them for granted," said Brett Kaydo, owner of Four Seasons Landscaping in Racine.

From fighting fires to solving crimes and providing care in times of emergency, Kaydo says he wanted to find a way to give back to those who give so much to the community. Here's how it works:

With the help of a promotional company, Kaydo wants to hand out 500 scratch off tickets.

"There are about 25 slots on this card. You have to pick six and if you scratch it off and they're all stars you're a winner," said Kaydo.

A winner of $25,000. The money isn't coming entirely out of Kaydo's pocket. He's working with a promotional company to set up and pay out the giveaway.

"There's no strings attached, it's yours to do what you want with and hopefully it can help someone out," said Kaydo.

It's free and any active or retired first responder, from police to firefighters and EMS can participate.

"With everything going on in the nation with police, fire and paramedics I think its important we recognize them and give back to them; I think everyone takes it for granted that these people are there for us," said Kaydo.

There is one catch: you have to get a ticket before Wednesday at noon. That's when the contest ends. You can pick up a scratch-off ticket from Four Season's Landscaping, located at 1535 Layard Avenue in Racine. Or you can call or send the staff at Four Seasons a Facebook message and ask them to mail you a ticket.
