Racine man pleads guilty to sexual assaults, sentenced to 18 years in prison

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine man will spend 18 years in prison after pleading guilty in connection with sexual assaults that happened in Kenosha and Racine Counties. 

The cases against him were cold, until the state's efforts to test backlogged sexual assault kits got a hit.

{seealso}Prosecutors say 48-year-old Matthew Crockett was involved in two sexual assaults in Kenosha in 2014 and 2015. In both cases, Cockett allegedly dragged his victims into a car and raped them. 

Crockett pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree sexual assault. 

Friday, June 23, a judge sentenced Cockett to 18 years behind bars and 18 years of extended supervision. 

Crockett is ordered to register as a lifetime sex offender. He will not be able to vote or possess a firearm.
