Racine family returns from vacation to discover their house on fire

A Racine family returning from a trip early Sunday morning discovered their home was on fire, causing $50,000 in damage and forcing them to find shelter with relatives that live nearby.

The fire was reported to the fire department at 12:52 a.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived at the home at 4125 Olive St. for the basement fire, they were informed that there were possibly two people in the basement. After a primary and secondary search of the basement, firefighters did not find anyone in the home.

No injuries were reported in the fire. The family was displaced in the fire and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
