MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Advocates for public schools gathered in the state Capitol rotunda Friday, Feb. 27, for what they called a "Day of Action."
They saluted the work of teachers in the public schools and in a way, this was a rally supporting this week's lawsuit filed against the state Assembly. A suit that claims lawmakers are underfunding public schools.
"We're here today to call on lawmakers to do their job. To fund public schools," said Heather Dubois Bourenane, executive director of the Wisconsin Public Education Network.
The lawsuit filed in Eau Claire County claims that lawmakers are not meeting their constitutional obligation to provide all kids with a sound basic education.
