MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Many teachers aren't happy with the recently proposed budget for Milwaukee Public Schools.
Members of the public were allowed to give their thoughts at a hearing held on Thursday. It was a full house.
The proposed budget released earlier in the month is $1.2 billion.
"While difficult decisions have been made to balance the budget, we are hopeful that the governor's budget will restore funds needed to strengthen high-quality education for all children in the Milwaukee Public Schools," said Dr. Keith Posley, Superintendent.
"For someone who has worked in the district for 27 years, 28 years, 19 years -- all of us could leave tomorrow and go to districts that will offer us far more in pay, far better working conditions and the respect that we deserve," said Amy Mizialko, President of Milwaukee Teachers' Education Association.
