Nearly 2 years after fire, Eden Meat Market rises from the ashes
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Since the day he came to Milwaukee, Bobby Portis has made a massive impact on the Bucks.
He's leaving his mark off the court in an even bigger way.
Portis is partnering with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, donating $25,000, that will create 100,000 meals.
"It's all about giving back, spreading your blessings with others. I come from humble beginnings. We never did it on our own, we always had help along the way. That little ounce of help can take someone a long way so being able to have this platform and spread my blessings with others has always been a calling of mine," said Portis.
Signing a four-year extension this offseason, Milwaukee is Bobby's home. And in that home, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin says 1 in 4 members of the black community don't know where their next meal is coming from. It's 1 in 5 in the Hispanic community. That's just a part of the reason why Bobby feels the need to help.
"I love the Wisconsin community as a whole. All the things they've done for me on and off the court it's been life changing for me so to have their support I want to support them as well," said Portis.
Today is just the beginning of Portis' partnership with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. He is also joining them as a brand ambassador.
