Port Washington Police investigating after man assaulted in parking lot of tavern

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Port Washington Police Department is currently investigating an assault that happened near Schooner Pub Tavern over the weekend. 

Police were called to the tavern around 2:10 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 35-year-old man lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot behind the pub.

The victim had suffered obvious trauma to his head and face. Officers located shards of broken glass from a pint glass.

Officers believe the victim was struck in the head or face with a pint glass.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

Officers interview a "person of interest" who has come forward and may have been involved in the assault.

The investigation remains ongoing.
