Police want shoppers to stay aware of their surroundings
Brown Deer Police want people stay alert when shopping this holiday season. They want shoppers to buy those gifts and take them home immediately instead of leaving them in the car. If they are left in the car, it creates an opportunity for thieves.
"When you do have packages, walk from the store to your car and put them in the car," Brown Deer Police officer Brad Caddock said. "We recommend shopping at one store to time and then taking your packages home. Some people feel it's a bit of an inconvenience but it's also an inconvenience if your car was broken into in the course of your shopping and those gifts are removed."
Caddock also recommends disguising any trash people take out before or after the holiday season so thieves don't see packages in the trash and target specific homes.
