Police Sergeant injured while individual resisted arrest

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A police Sergeant from the Milwaukee Police Department was injured on Saturday, Sept. 9. 

The police responded to a shooting that took place on 5:00 p.m. on Saturday near 46th and State. Upon arrival of the police, a 23-year-old individual was encountered. The individual was being taken into custody unrelated to the shooting investigation. 

According to the Milwaukee County Police Department, the 23-year-old individual physically resisted officers, as a Milwaukee Police Sergeant came to assist the officers taking the individual in to custody. The police Sergeant sustained non-fatal injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

The investigation is ongoing.
