Police search for suspect after Canal Street chase ends in crash

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette University police are assisting Milwaukee police after a vehicle pursuit ended in a crash near Canal and Emmber around 10 p.m. pm Wednesday, Aug. 20.
According to a safety alert issued by the university, a vehicle was being pursued by Milwaukee police for driving recklessly. The reckless car was later determined to have been stolen.
The chase ended when the driver collided into a police squad before the driver fled eastbound on foot along Canal Street. Four passengers were taken into custody at the scene, including a 22-year-old man, a 20-year-old man and two 17-year-old girls.
The passengers were treated for injuries at a local hospital.
The driver is still at large and is described as a Black man in his early 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a white t-shirt and white and black Adidas pants.
