Police Report 'Active Shooter' in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs shopping center on lockdown as police hunt shooter near Planned Parenthood.

(CNN) At least three officers were injured in a shooting incident Friday near the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Commander Kirk Wilson with the Colorado Springs Police Department told reporters. Wilson said that police were still in the process of trying to eliminate the threat.

Officials at hospitals in the area said they were expecting the arrival of four patients, one of whom had a gunshot wound to the arm.

Police said Friday they were responding to a call of an active shooter in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"The area is NOT secure," the city's police department said via Twitter.

The shooting took place on Colorado Springs' Centennial Boulevard, though the exact location was not immediately reported. Nor was it known who, if anyone, might have been shot and in what their condition was.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported that traffic was shut off in both directions on Centennial Boulevard, with customers told to stay put in a nearby grocery store and shops.

The city, in the central part of the Colorado, has more than 400,000 residents.
