Milwaukee County honors transit system employees
BLOOMFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) – A 46-year-old Robert Leathers is in custody after authorities say he put suspicious devices around a property in Walworth County.
It happened around 5:30 Tuesday near Westside Road and Wells Street in Bloomfield. Several law enforcement agencies responded to the situation.
Police say the man was recklessly driving a vehicle and then tried to drive away when police arrived. When officers learned about the devices, the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called in and the area was closed off for several hours as a precaution so they could remove the devices.
“I walked outside. I saw a guy doing donuts he was lighting some bombs fuses of bombs, throwing hem out of the windows at our work trucks," said Seth Cox, witness.
Witnesses say they have not seen Leathers before.
Leathers was arrested on suspicion of possession of explosives, disorderly conduct, and recklessly endangering safety. He appeared in court on Wednesday but no charges have been filed. Charges are expected to be filed by his next court appearance next week. His cash bond is set at $100,000.
