Police identify one suspect in playground shooting that wounded girl

MILWAUKEE-Police say they have identified one suspect from Wednesday's shooting near a school that left 11 year old Sierra Guyton wounded.

That suspect is not in custody.

Investigators are still trying to identify the second person who is believed to have exchanged gunfire near the playground at 25th and Clarke.

The girl's father tells CBS 58 News that while she is out of surgery, there is continued brain swelling.

He says he's been told she has a 50/50 chance of survival.

He's also been told that there was a group of young men at the playground when another group rolled up, then the gunfire.

Normally his daughter would be inside watching television when he's at work, but because of the warm weather Sierra decided to go out and play.

Within moments she was struck by gunfire.

While shootings are down in Milwaukee compared with this time last year, it is the tender age of the victims that has struck a chord.

Stray gunfire alone has wounded three children in the past six weeks.
