Pleasant Prairie woman arrested for DUI with 18 month-old in car

A Pleasant Prairie woman was stopped for speeding 97 mph in a 70 mph speed zone on Interstate 94 south bound. Once pulled over the trooper detected strong odor of intoxicants. 
Melanie Lynn Alvarez, 36 years-old, from Pleasant Prairie was arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Waukesha Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence with a child in the vehicle.
This was Alvarez's second offense.
Upon making contact with Alvarez, the trooper detected a strong odor of intoxicants. The trooper administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and the driver was subsequently placed under arrest for the suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated, second offense, with a Passenger Under the Age of 16. 
Alvarez was taken to All Saints for a legal blood draw and was transported to the Racine County Jail. 
Alvarez was also charged with First Degree Felony Reckless Endangering Safety, Operating while Revoked-OWI Related, Speeding and violating the Child Safety Restraint law. The 18 month old child was turned over to a family member.
