Pittsburgh Pirates bus driver arrested for DUI
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- We've just learned the Pittsburgh Pirates' journey to Milwaukee was not an easy one.
The man driving the team from Chicago to Milwaukee was arrested.
That is according to a report out of Chicago, and the team confirmed the news tonight, on June 16.
The Pirates are in town for a three-game series against the Brewers.
They traveled here last night.
The report says Illinois police noticed something wrong while escorting the team's bus.
The report says the bus driver was driving erratically.
Troopers stopped the bus and arrested the driver for allegedly driving under the influence.
The Pirates Vice President of Communications sent us this statement:
"We are deeply concerned regarding what transpired last night. The important thing is that all of our personnel arrived in Milwaukee safely."
The team says the driver is not a Pirates employee.
He is an independent contractor.
Illinois State police did not respond to our request for details.
