PGA hosts event at Whistling Straits

What Robert McGinn did on this Monday will probably remain with him the rest of his life. The New Berlin golfer took part in the PGA Reach event at arguably one of the best courses in the world. Whistling Straits. The cost to play was $1250. A worthwhile expense for him.

\"Doesn't feel like Wisconsin. Like Ireland. You have the sheep roaming. Got grass, lake. Whole other feel,\" McGinn said.

This fundraiser is a way to give back to various organizations around the Kohler-Sheboygan area.

\"Golf and charity go hand and hand. Nearly 4 billion dollars raised like events today,\" said Scott Kmie, PGA Reach Senior Director.

Organizers estimate $120 thousand dollars will be distributed to different programs like PGA hope. This allows disabled veterans to hit the links. And there's also Bookwarm Gardens.

This 2 acre area offers a quiet space for kids of any age. And now 40 thousand dollars from the golf charity will help create a space showcasing the 2015 PGA Championship coming in mid August.
