Mayor Johnson helps MPS teachers get prepped for schoolyear
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There are growing concerns among parents at McKinley Elementary in Wauwatosa, who say school leadership is failing.
At a school board meeting Monday night, May 12, parents spoke out, citing low morale, a lack of trust, and fears of more teachers leaving.
They say the issues started last fall, and blame the school's principal, Ted Martin, for what they call a "broken" school community.
They're asking for Martin to be removed.
"I know firsthand of the McKinley controversy. It's not my place to tell personal stories, but what I can corroborate is an atmosphere where fear and discouragement predominate."
The district has acknowledged the concerns but it's unclear what action, if any, will be taken.
The school board is expected to continue the discussion in upcoming meetings.
