Packers Special Teams Coordinator Released

GREEN BAY--The Green Bay Packers released Special Teams Coordinator Shawn Slocum. The team announced the decision Friday afternoon.

A late-game collapse in the NFC Championship Game in Seattle came before the decision. A fake field goal and an onside kick recovered by the Seahawks helped them defeat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in overtime, preventing the Packers from playing in their sixth Super Bowl.

Slocum joined the Packers in 2006 and was over the special teams unit starting in 2009. He won a Super Bowl under that role in 2010.
