Packers sign veteran LB, place WR Kumerow on IR

The Green Bay Packers continue to adjust their roster prior to their opening day game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. On Monday, the Packers announced they have signed veteran linebacker Korey Toomer.

Toomer, in his fifth year, is a 6-foot-2, 235-pound player who was last with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers released Toomer on Sept. 1.

Toomer has played for Seattle, Oakland and San Diego/Los Angeles. In his career, he has played in 46 games with 16 starts and registered 115 total tackles (68 solo), two sacks, an interception he returned 59 yards for a touchdown, five forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 14 special teams tackles.

Toomer will wear No. 56 for the Packers.

The Packers also announced Monday that they will be playing WR Jake Kumerow (shoulder) on the injured reserve list.
