Packers select Spriggs, Fackrell on day 2

The Packers traded three picks to the Indianapolis Colts for the right to select Indiana offensive lineman Jason Spriggs in the second round of the NFL draft Friday. The team then chose Utah State linebacker Kyler Fackrell with its third round selection.

Spriggs will help the Packers with depth along the offensive front, where several starters are coming to the end of their contracts. He allowed just two sacks in his entire senior season at Indiana.

Fackrell becomes the first linebacker chosen by Green Bay in this draft, a minor surprise after many considered inside linebacker to be a need Ted Thompson would address in the first few rounds.

Rounds 4-7 of the draft happen Saturday.
