Packers select Randall with 30th pick

Former Arizona State safety Damarious Randall is the newest member of the Green Bay Packers. The Pack selected Randall with the 30th overall pick in Thursday night's opening round of the NFL Draft.

Randall finished his senior season with the Sun Devils with a team-high 106 tackles, three interceptions, a sack and a touchdown after also notching three picks and a score during his junior season with Arizona State. Randall played a year of college baseball at Butler Community College before transferring to Mesa Community College and, eventually, ASU to play football.

Mike Mayock of the NFL Network called Randall a \"rising pick because of his coverage skills.\" The defensive back ran a 4.46 40-yard dash and showed a 38-inch vertical at the Combine. Randall will be used at cornerback in Green Bay, with last year's first round pick Ha-Ha Clinton Dix firmly entrenched at safety.
