Packers release Brad Jones

The Packers released veteran linebacker Brad Jones Friday after Jones notched a season-low 18 tackles in the 2014 season.

Jones was viewed by many as a reason for the Packers collapse in the NFC Championship Game, blowing an assignment on a fake field goal that led to a Seahawks touchdown. Jones was also a focal point for the Pack's poor performance in the season opener.

Ted Thompson signed Jones to a $12 million contract extension two years ago, but Jones never lived up to expectations after that. The linebacker was also a member of the Super Bowl XLV champion Packers squad.
