Packers' Nelson hopes to miss first Pro Bowl

GREEN BAY--After being elected to his first NFL Pro Bowl, Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson said he hopes he's not available to play in the game.

That would likely mean that the Packers are playing in the Super Bowl, which excludes players from participating in the exhibition game in favor of preparing for the big game.

\"I think it's something everyone wants in their career,\" Nelson said after practice Wednesday. \"It's an honor, I'm glad to get it and, hopefully, I don't get to play in it.\"

Nelson has over 1400 receiving yards with an NFL-leading 13 touchdowns so far in 2014. He hopes to add to that total as the Packers play the Detroit Lions Sunday for the NFC North title and a first-round bye in the playoffs.
