GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- For 12 seasons straight, the Packers have won their home opener -- the longest streak in franchise history.
But the current team remembers going 1-5 against the NFC North last year and losing the final three games of last season, and that is a powerful motivator to start strong.
"I think it always starts with the division," Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur says. "It's not just Detroit but certainly they've been the standard the last two seasons in this league, and I've got a great deal of respect for what they've been able to accomplish. I've got a lot of respect for Dan and what he's been able to establish. So, it's going to be a great challenge but we're going to prepare, to the best of our ability, each and every day to go out there and have some success."
The buildout for the CBS set and broadcast production is already underway. And Matt LaFleur loves the Packers home opener and starting a season at Lambeau for the first time since 2018.
"I think week one is the most playoff type atmosphere that you can come by," LaFleur says. "Just in terms of excitement, the energy. The fans will certainly be rowdy. Everybody's been itching and missing football."
LaFleur also says "we'll see" when asked about Micah Parsons and his back injury. He is rehabbing hard for Sunday.
