Officials recover bodies of 2 kayakers who went missing near Washington Island

DOOR COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The bodies of two kayakers who went missing near Washington Island were recovered Monday, Aug. 3, according to the Door County Sheriff's Office.
Officials say they recovered the bodies of 20-year-old David Thalman, of Dundee, Illinois, and 20-year-old Franceska Warick, of South Elgin, Illinois, around 11 a.m.
First responders were called to the area of Wickman Drive the evening of Aug. 1, for a report of two people who had gone out in a kayak without life jackets and had not returned.
The search operation transitioned to a recovery operation Aug. 2.
The sheriff's office says the incident remains under investigation.
