Owner of dying dog makes plea to get dog's Facebook page back

Salt Lake City, UT (KUTV) -- The owner of a 10-year-old dog dying of cancer makes a plea to Facebook. She's asking the social media giant to give her pet pug's personal profile page back.

Sapphire the Pug's profile page was taken down as part of Facebook's policy about not allowing pets to have an individual personal profile, but are allowed to have celebrity or public profiles.

Sapphire has cancer and is not expected to live much longer. Her owner Wendy Hudman had been using her Facebook profile to tell Sapphire's story and help other dog owners who's animals are dying of cancer.

\"All of a sudden Facebook logged me out with no warning,\" said Hudman. \"Just instantly it was gone.\"

All the messages and pictures of comfort, all the stories shared on line and all the hundreds of friends were gone.

\"My little dog is just a sweet little dog that is dying and will be gone in weeks now we can't get the love and support from all of our friends its heartbreaking,\" said Hudman. \"I would like Facebook to give us back our profile give us back our friends give us back the people that love and adore us.\"

2News contacted Facebook and later received an email from a Facebook spokesperson saying quote - \"The page was mistakenly removed and will now be resorted. we apologize for the inconvenience.\"
