Outlaw Oyster hosts official grand opening in Bay View this Friday

NOW: Outlaw Oyster hosts official grand opening in Bay View this Friday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Outlaw Oyster in Bay View opens on Friday, Sept. 12. You can get fresh shucked oysters on the half shell.

It's the second location to open in southeastern Wisconsin, following the Wauwatosa location.

Devin Eichler wanted to combine his love for all things seafood into one restaurant. He calls it "Northeast meets Northwoods."

"So, it started as a pop-up, mainly born from my love of oysters and all things seafood," said Eichler. "I love a good lobster roll and oysters, and to me it didn’t make sense that those two didn’t cross paths."

Eichler says the varieties of oysters being served will constantly change, sometimes in the same day. While many may think it's hard to get oysters in Wisconsin. Eichler says he can get the latest catch from the ocean to your table in Bay View within 24 hours.

As for the Northwoods, you'll find those nostalgic foods many Wisconsin families grew up getting from "up north."

"The Northwoods is a little bit of supper club, with some shrimp cocktail, and the pimento cheese ball, but also the smoked fish tradition from the smokehouses up north like Susie Q smoked fish," he said. "I love smoked fish. I grew up eating it and I gave really great memories going backpacking and camping with friends and getting it."

Outlaw Oyster will be open Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesdays will be all day Happy Hour with $2 oysters. Happy Hour will also be offered from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
