One person seriously injured in Oconomowoc house fire



One person is in serious condition following a fire in Oconomowoc Tuesday.  According to the Western Lakes Fire District in Oconomowoc, firefighters responded to a house fire at Goldenview Court and N Lapham Street around 2 PM.   When they arrived, there was heavy black smoke coming from the first floor and basement of the home.   One of the two residents was able to get out of the home by themself, but firefighters needed to rescue a second individual from the burning home.  Both residents were taken to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.   Two police officers and one firefighter were assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation, but did not require hospitalization.

The fire was contained within 20 minutes, but crews remained on the scene for six hours.   The State Fire Marshall and the Oconomowoc Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire. 

The Western Lakes Fire District was assisted by crews from Stone Bank, Okauchee, Lake Country, Ixonia and Eagle Fire Departments.
