MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Friends and family are mourning the loss of a man who was shot and killed on Christmas day.

The 51-year-old man was shot and killed near 37th and Clarke around 10:30 p.m. He died of his injuries at a local hospital.

Friends identified him as Keith Winters. One friend said that Winters called and invited him over Christmas night, but it was getting late so he decided not to.

He says he doesn't understand how this could have happened and that his friend of 20 years did not deserve to die like this on Christmas day.

"I mean that's my guy," he said. You know, I mean, we get loud, we talk, we move. I mean the fun thing ain't no taking nothing from no one or nothing like that kind of guy. He was a good guy. He did a lot of things out here. He helped out with the community and he was a very close friend to me. I'm younger, but he helped me out a lot."

Milwaukee police say this is an active investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact them.
