One injured, house a total loss following fire in Fond du Lac County

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person is injured and a house and garage are a total loss following a house fire in the Town of Osceola. 

It happened around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday on Birchwood Drive.

Crews arrived on scene for a report of a garage that was on fire. The fire quickly spread to the home. Both were destroyed.

Everyone inside safely evacuated the fire.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office says the cause of the fire is believed to be a faulty extension cord in a nearby room in the garage.

The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.

A family member was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
