Oak Creek (CBS 58) — Almost five years and going strong. Oak City Youth Cheer, or OCYC, proves it has staying power. At the beginning, this volunteer run program had 60 athletes. Now the number is more than 150. The group offers sideline and competitive cheer to students grades 5K through 8th. What makes this all so unique is the fact there's no school or location requirements. Also, part of the mission is to be financially accessible. The team usually cheers on the Oak Creek Youth Football players at their games. Also, both competitive teams recently brought home 3rd place plaques at the State Championships.

Seeing registration costs cover less than half of the annual expenses between insurance, rental facilities, and other items, OCYC is constantly looking for fundraising opportunities and sponsors. They are also in the search for a new practice site for the upcoming season. Go to the team's website, Facebook page or Instagram account at @oakcreekyouthcheer for further information or if you want to help.
