One arrested after 52 dogs found in deplorable conditions in Pleasant Prairie

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. (CBS 58) — On Thursday, November 9 around 8:15 a.m. the Pleasant Prairie Police Department responded to a home in the 8600 block of 120th Avenue after receiving a complaint about a property owner who they believe had numerous dogs in their home. The caller was concerned about the number of animals and their conditions, as well as the condition of the home.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers found deplorable living conditions due to a large amount of animal feces from numerous dogs living in the home with the property owner. Police personnel needed protective suits to conduct the search because it was in such terrible shape.

The breed and age of the dogs was not immediately available.

The home was deemed uninhabitable by Village authorities.

52 dogs from inside the house were seized and relocated to Safe Harbor Humane Society for care, evaluations and safe keeping. The 66-year-old homeowner was arrested and is facing numerous charges from animal mistreatment.
