Midday Update: On both record and storm watch over the next couple of days
Updated: Wednesday, January 7th 1pm:
To go along with the warmer temps will also be our first chance of thunderstorms this year. One round of showers will likely move through around midday Thursday. These showers will be light with no threat of thunder.
After a break in the action during a good portion of the afternoon, another round of showers moves in during the mid evening hours. This round will have the potential for a few isolated storms, and we can't rule out a few stronger storms.
With the threat of a few stronger storms, the SPC has put portions of southern Wisconsin under a level 1 of 5, Marginal Risk, for severe storms tomorrow evening. This includes Walworth, Jefferson, and far western portions of Waukesha, Racine, and Kenosha counties.
Large hail, damaging winds, and an isolated tornado are the threat. Download the CBS 58 Ready Weather App to be alerted of any warning that may be issued on Thursday.
---------------------------------------------------------
Every day so far this February has been above average and through the first six days of the month it is the second warmest start to February on record just behind 1991. We likely take over that top spot by the end of the work week as temperatures warm into the upper 40s and low 50s. The record highs for Thursday and Friday are in jeopardy. Thursday will probably fall short of the record high with a current forecast of 53. Friday has a better chance of breaking the old record of 51 set in 1938.
We are waking up Wednesday morning to a dense fog advisory with some patchy fog. More patchy fog is possible Wednesday evening into Thursday morning but as the wind picks up during the day on Thursday the chance for fog will completely go away. Friday also looks like a windy day with gusts to 30 mph.
Enjoy some of the warmth the next few days and get outside! It does look like we start to cool down as we go into next week with highs in the upper 30s starting Sunday.
