Officials: Investigation found no human body parts in Fond du Lac River

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Fond du Lac officials say crews have completed their search of the Fond du Lac River after a citizen reported a human body part was visible on Tuesday, June 15.

On Wednesday afternoon, officials say no human body or body parts were located. 

Officials say sonar images from the ROV identified several items of interest. All were examined further visually confirmed to be debris.

The Fond du Lac Police Department has since closed their investigation.

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Fond du Lac officials say they are investigating a citizen report of a human body part visible in the Fond du Lac River on Tuesday, June 15. 

According to officials, Fond du Lac Police and Fire/Rescue, as well as the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office are working together on the investigation. Officials say it was reported just south of Johnson Street in Fond du Lac. 

The police department, sheriff's office, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are coordinating an additional search of the river in the reported area on Wednesday. 

The DNR will be using a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) with sonar capabilities. The sheriff's office divers will also be deployed into the river to investigate or recover anything located.
